Color Resource Guide
Trouble with color? Maybe this will help you.
Color can be intimidating if you don’t know where to start. That’s why I put together this collection of my favorite color resources from across the web.
Whether you want to quickly find a color palette to work with or build your own, these tools will help you get there. Enjoy!
1. Adobe Color

Don’t worry, you don’t need an Adobe subscription to use this. Adobe’s color tool is a fantastic place to start your search for a color palette.
Explore popular schemes, search by theme or build your own. And you can export palettes in all kinds of formats. Handy!
2. Coolers

Coolers is a super fun to use color scheme generator. It shares some of the functions from Adobe, but it has this neat generator feature that is addicting to play with.
It’s like building a color scheme mixed with a slot machine. You have to try it to know what I mean.
3. Color Hunt

Color Hunt is a growing collection of color schemes for designers and artists run by illustrator, Gal Shir. It’s a free resource for color inspiration featuring thousands of hand-picked color palettes.
4. Color Claim

ColorClaim is a collection of designer Tobias Van Schneider’s favorite color combinations. Most of the pairings feature two colors: a primary and an accent color.
5. Color Supply

Color Supply is a handy color picker for designers and illustrators that uses different color harmonies and automated tints and shades to help you build your own palettes. They also feature curated palettes created by professional designers.
5. Material Color Tool

This is a fantastic tool if you are working with color in apps or for websites. It will prompt you to pick a color and then give you a preview of what it looks like in context.
On top of that, if you click the Accessibility tab, you can preview how it works with type and make sure it’s nice and legible.
5. Material Color Tool

This is kind of a wild card I decided to include. It’s aimed at painters, but it’s an interesting tool for finding color harmonies and getting a sense of the color theory behind them.
I know, it looks intimidating, but give it a try!
